Climecon’s CEO is taking part in a round-the-world sailing trip

Climecon is known for its “getting things done”-attitude, but sometimes it’s time to take a break. Climecon CEO Tommi Uksila will participate in the Ocean Globe Race 2023 sailing competition around the world. During Tommi’s sailing, Mikko Erikson, head of the sales team and head of the air purification business, will act as the CEO’s deputy. Mikko has been in the Climecon team for a long time and is certainly a familiar face to many. Tommi’s absence does not cause changes in Climecon’s services or operations.

About the Ocean Globe Race

Sailing has been Tommi’s hobby since childhood, and he has also gained competition experience from several competitions over the years. The Ocean Globe Race is a retro race from the 1973 Whitbread Round the World race. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the original event. In 2023, we will start the race with a sailing boat called Spirit of Helsinki. The Swan 651 model Spirit of Helsinki last participated in the competition in 1985 under the name “Fazer Finland” and finished third in the world’s most demanding and longest sailing competition. The crew includes 16 passionate sailors.

Racing boats designed before 1988 do not have computers, satellites, GPS, or high-tech devices. Only sextants, team spirit, and raw determination are allowed in this truly fierce competition.

All of us at Climecon wish Tommi the best of luck on his journey!
