Get to know: Sales Manager Veli-Matti Piispanen

A favorite among customers, Veli-Matti knows snow and rain covers, roof hoods, and hoods like the back of his hand. Veli-Matti, or Velsu as he’s known to friends, has been working at Climecon since 1999. In addition to his sales role, he also helps manage products for snow and rain covers, and roof hoods together with the Product Manager. His enthusiasm for his work is as strong as it was at the start of his career, and as a thrill-seeker, Velsu is always ready for new adventures.

For Velsu, sales aren’t just about numbers and spreadsheets; they’re about solving problems and helping customers. Contractor sales have brought him a wide variety of projects, and over the years, he has gotten to know many customers well, some almost like friends.

When asked what’s best about Climecon, the answer is clear: the people, the open atmosphere, and the amazing customers. In the sales team, everyone genuinely gets along. Competition among colleagues is nonexistent, except when it comes to sports. On the ski tracks, for example, his competitive spirit sometimes shines through. Challenges are tackled together, and Velsu is always eager to try something new. These days, he’s particularly interested in trying climbing.

Outside of work, Velsu is known as a fitness enthusiast. Skiing, running, gym workouts, and skiing keep him active all year round. Nature is important to him, and hunting provides a peaceful counterbalance to daily life. Occasionally, that peace is replaced by the roar of engines: Velsu owns three motorcycles, two of which are vintage models. According to him, the older bikes carry a sense of nostalgia that always draws him back onto the road, ready for a new adventure.
